Rock It

My toes complained for a bit last night about
going back into the confines of my boots. They
hadn't forgotten the pain of Sunday, but it was
doable and didn't bother me enough to complain
about it.
Funny though, my toes are sorta tender this morning.
With the weather on our side, practice was a
pleasure instead of torture.
Staying on the small flat track, we started off with
some slow laps, then Bob separated us into groups and
we moved into catch the pack.
My group was one of the last to head out and we
stayed at the pace of our newest team member Ray.
He's a great addition to our group, fun to have
around and going through all the stuff everyone
does when we take up inline speedskating, including
back pain.
That came between us and catching up to the main
pack, and after many laps I cut loose the youngest
of our threesome so he could "catch", and stayed
with Ray as he gutted it out.
Knowing what it's like to skate by yourself when
everyone else is in a pack, I was happy to do so.
Later after a group break, we formed one pack and
did a pass up drill.
Now this I found incredibly fun!
Whoever was in the very back, sprinted up the outside
of the line to the second spot, getting in behind the
leader, and if things went right, and people were paying
attention, it flowed in a cool way and there was a
constant shift of skaters.
Loved getting low, powering up, swinging my arms and
smoothly tucking into the #2 spot.
It was a total blast for some reason :)
Too bad I can't do that for the length of a 10k..
